Right now, though, this is my post where I join other bloggers for a monthly challenge to create from what we have hoarded stashed in craft supplies, spending no more than $10 for miscellaneous bits like glue or ribbon.
My project was completely inspired by this DIY Graphic Pillow post at The Boondocks Blog. Hers is for Autumn, but I am just now getting around to it 😉 so mine is for Winter!
Is anyone else a fan of The Sound of Music? This scene is my favorite! (see what I did there?)
I translated a few lines from the song My Favorite Things into graphic designs for heat transfer paper and put my cutting machine and iron to work!
Next the fabric was stitched into envelope covers for pillows already on hand.
I think they will work for most of the winter, but in my plan for Christmas, the pillows will be styled alongside this vintage doll somehow and our gifts will be wrapped in brown paper with either string or ribbon and hand stamped gift tags. You know our cat will be smack in the middle of it, which is another line from the song!
Her white dress was purchased and a blue satin sash was added to fit into our theme. I hope I can sew a pair of shoes for her. We’ll see!
